New features for a better app
The Australian app has been upgraded with features designed to make each visit a better experience.
Dear readers,
We have added features to The Australian app designed to make each visit a better experience.
Many of these improvements are a result of your feedback.
The new version of the app is now available. We encourage you to upgrade ASAP to start enjoying the improvements.
Latest
One of the first things you will notice when you upgrade is that we have moved Latest to first place in the section navigation to give you easy access to big news stories and important analysis during the day.
Just swipe once to read the stories that appeared on Page One of the newspaper and continue swiping for Nation and your other favourite print sections.
Comments
For the first time, The Australian app offers comments. The comments on articles are the same whether you’re viewing the article on our website, mobile site or apps.
You can have your say, read what other subscribers are posting and respond to them without leaving the app.
Important message
If you have upgraded and comments aren’t loading at the bottom of the story, we advise you to log out in Settings - top right of the app near the masthead - then log in again.
If you still have the issue, please call our customer service team on 1300 696 397.
Briefing
We are delighted to introduce Briefing, a digest of must-read stories prepared by our editors and published three times each weekday. Briefings are designed to keep you informed on the go.
You will receive an alert from us when your Briefing is ready - at 7.30am (AEDT), noon and 5pm.
Notifications
We encourage you to keep all Notifications for The Australian turned on so you don’t miss an important story.
You can more easily manage what type of notifications you receive in settings inside the app.
Today’s Paper
In addition to content from your favourite print sections, The Australian app includes Today’s Paper, an improved digital version of the newspaper that replaces the Digital Print Edition, so you can read the paper as it was printed.
The Apps team thanks all those readers who have given The Australian app positive ratings in the App Store and Google Play since we relaunched in June.
Please keep sending us feedback. While we can’t respond to all your emails we are reading each one and assessing the features you request.
We will update you as we make improvements.
regards,
The Australian Apps team
