This app is being retired on November 9, almost two years to the day since launch.

We have learned a lot about what’s important to you and our editors thank you for responding to our Notifications.

Notifications bring the news to you quickly.

We hope you’ll replace Newsflash in your busy day with our improved flagship app, which works on tablet and mobile for iOS and Android.

The new version of the app being released on November 9 includes Comments for the first time. You’ll be able to have your say, read what other subscribers are thinking and respond to them without leaving the app.

The Australian app includes your favourite print sections, Latest — a section that brings you the big news stories and important analysis during the day — and an improved Digital Print Edition.

Newsflash showed us that many of you like updates at specific times so we are introducing Briefing, a digest of must-read stories published three times each weekday.

We encourage you to keep all Notifications for The Australian turned on so you don’t miss an important story.

We’ll only send you these types of Notifications:

Edition: 6.30am from Monday-Saturday to let you know the day’s edition is ready.

Briefings: 7.30am, noon and 5pm Monday-Friday.

Breaking news and Top Stories: Big stories and editor’s picks during the day.

The Australian app has received positive ratings in the App Store and Google Play since it was relaunched in June.
