CAMPBELL Newman was lauded as "the next premier" as he kicked off the last full day of campaigning in Brisbane.
The Liberal National Party leader toured the Rocklea Markets this morning before blitzing the television and radio airwaves in a final plea to Queensland voters ahead of tomorrow's election.
Mr Newman was greeted as a conquering hero at the early morning fruit and vegetable market in southern Brisbane, where workers had made homemade signs and labels saying “bye bye Anna” and “we know you can walk the walk, not just talk the talk”.
Fruit-distributor owner Paul Alroe greeted Mr Newman with: “Hello Mr premier”.
Mr Newman replied: “No, no, no”, urging against overconfidence.
“Nah, you'll be right,” Mr Alroe said.
RW Pascoe fruit shop owner Noel Greenhalgh told Mr Newman he was a shoo-in.
“We need change,” Mr Greenhalgh said.
Small business owner Vince Mailli said tomorrow's election was “no contest”.
“They've done it to themselves haven't they?” he said.
Robbie Mann, from Pershouse Produce, yelled out: “A new era, a new state - Queenslander!”
But Mr Newman told the Ten Network that change would not happen without individuals changing their votes.
