FORMER union heavyweight Martin Pakula is Victoria's new public transport minister after the shock resignation of Lynne Kosky.
Premier John Brumby announced details this afternoon of his minor cabinet reshuffle as a result of Ms Kosky's exit this week, and as expected, Mr Pakula took on the portfolio.
He keeps his existing job of industrial relations minister.
Energy and resources Minister Peter Batchelor has picked up Ms Kosky's other portfolio, the arts, and planning minister Justin Madden has been named the government's new “minister for the respect agenda” to help tackle alcohol-fuelled violence and racial tolerance.
Former skills and workforce participation minister Jacinta Allan will take on Mr Pakula's other portfolio of industry and trade and education minister Bronwyn Pike will take responsibilty for the skills portfolio.
Mr Brumby also announced that left MP, Lily D'Ambrosio, would take Ms Kosky's spot in cabinet and become the new community development minister.
He said the cabinet reshuffle was the “right team, the right people” to deliever for Victoria in this election year.
The new ministers will be sworn in shortly at Government House.
