NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has refused to confirm if the demolition of Sydney’s Allianz stadium will proceed this week if a bid to get a temporary injunction from the NSW Land and Environment Court Court fails later today.

“All our projects will be business as usual,’ the premier told reporters at a heated press conference at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

Asked repeatedly whether the Government planned to bring in the wrecker’s ball on the stadium before the March 23 election, the premier was clearly under stress as she attempted to steer her response into an attack against Labor leader Michael Daley.

COMMENT: Premier’s biggest mistake

“I’m concerned he has one policy and that’s cancelling projects,’ Ms Berejiklian said.

“If we took his advice we would be downing tools on everything. I ask him to be truthful and stop playing games.”

The Government has endured a bruising week after Mr Daley appeared to gain traction with Labor’s key election message the government has sacrificed hospitals and schools to fund “grandiose” projects like its $2.2 billion stadium rebuilding program.

Opposition Labor leader Michael Daley’s fiery confrontation with high profile 2GB broadcaster Alan Jones on Tuesday further polarised voters, with Mr Daley informing the powerful broadcaster on his own program that he planned to sack him and the rest of the Sydney Cricket Ground board over their push to rebuild Sydney’s Allianz Stadium with tax payer dollars when there was no business case to support it.

The Berejiklian Government has been on a spending bonanza in health and education this week, announcing today it would inject an additional $619 million funding for the Westmead Children’s Hospital on top of an extra million dollars in extra funding it has already pledged.

It has also promised to recruit an additional 8,300 frontline hospital staff, including 5000 nurses and midwives if re-elected.

Premier Berejiklian said despite NSW Labor’s political posturing, her government has plunged an unprecedented amount of funding into schools and hospitals.

“I’m so confident the people of NSW know we have their interests at heart, we don’t play games ,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“Is he (Mr Daley) suggesting we should put a hold on everything he doesn’t support? On schools, on roads on rail, there are so many things he doesn’t support.”

“This significant expansion to paediatric health services in western Sydney will ensure The Children’s Hospital at Westmead continues to be a world leader in providing care for sick children right across the state.”
