Pauline Hanson has enlisted former Labor leader Mark Latham to attack Bill Shorten in a robocall phone message that has just started targeting households in the crucial Queensland by-election seat of Longman.
In the message, obtained by The Australian, Mr Latham urges voters in the seat to vote for minority parties and accuses Mr Shorten of dishonesty, blaming his handling of the citizenship crisis for the by-election in the marginal Queensland seat.
“I’m Mark Latham, former Labor Party leader. I’ve had personal experience with Bill Shorten’s dishonesty. He just lies and lies and lies,” Mr Latham says. “The reason we’re having a Longman by-election is because Shorten lied about the citizenship of his Labor MPs”.
“Whatever you do, don’t reward Shorten’s dishonesty. Don’t vote Labor. Please support minor parties and independents to shake-up the system. Put some honest politics back into Canberra.”
The robocalls, authorised by Senator Hanson, started targeting the seat earlier today and represent and escalation in the political battle between One Nation and the Labor Party under Mr Shorten’s leadership.
