Rupert Murdoch?s wife a spy: Palmer

PRIME ministerial aspirant Clive Palmer says he will sue News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch over an article in The Australian today arguing he is a "buffoon" who threatens democracy.

The Queensland businessman, whose political party could secure a Queensland senate seat, accused the media proprietor of telling his journalists what to write and claimed his estranged wife Wendi Deng was a Chinese spy.

The front-page comment piece by Hedley Thomas argues Mr Palmer is a job destroyer and "flim flam" man who stands on the brink of achieving great political power.

Mr Palmer today refused to address any of the points made in the article.

"I don't answer any accusation. I don't answer any accusation from Hedley Thomas, sorry," he told Nine's Today show.

"He's just an apparatchik of Rupert Murdoch in New York."

HEDLEY THOMAS: Why we need to worry about the real Clive Palmer

Mr Palmer told the Seven Network this morning that he would take Mr Murdoch to court.

"Murdoch will be sued by me today and will be brought to Australia to answer these questions in the Supreme Court," he told the Seven's Sunrise program.

"It's time this fellow was brought to account, this foreigner who tries to dictate what we do."

Thomas said he was not concerned by the threat of legal action and stood by his reporting into Mr Palmer.

“We look forward to this because in court we'll just lay out the facts again,” he told Fairfax Radio.

Mr Palmer is already suing The Australian for defamation over earlier reports about his business interests.

He also made the bizarre claim that Ms Deng, whom Mr Murdoch is in the process of divorcing, had been spying on her husband.

"Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi Deng is a Chinese spy, and that's been right across the world," he told Nine.

"She's been spying on Rupert for years, giving money back to Chinese intelligence. Read the truth about it.

"She was trained in Southern China. I'm telling you the truth... That's why Rupert Murdoch got rid of her. He wants to control what you think."

Mr Palmer predicted his Palmer United Party would win a swag of seats in both houses of parliament.

"We're going to get a lot of Senate seats, we're going to get a lot of House of Representatives seats, and we're going to change the country mate," he said. "You should vote for us."
