The baby behind one of Australia’s biggest political scandals was spotted in Armidale yesterday.

Sebastian Joyce was seen in the arms of his father, former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce, while they walked down the street with his mother, Vikki Campion.

It is believed the three had just come from Armidale Airport after a busy budget week in Canberra.

Mr Joyce was forced to resign as Nationals leader in February when it was revealed he was to have a baby with Ms Campion, a former staffer. Sebastian was born in April.

Mr Joyce told Sky News on Thursday he was now a happy “house husband” and was spending a lot of time with his latest child. Sebastian is Mr Joyce’s fifth child, and first son.

“It’s an incredible joy and incredible blessing. Seb’s doing well,” Mr Joyce said.

“I think people are surprised. When I’m at home I do all the cooking and the washing.”

Mr Joyce told Sky News’s Samantha Maiden that his kitchen speciality was a roast. He also said he found people taking pictures of his family “creepy”.

“You don’t want to be on display like some exotic animal in the zoo,” he said.

As a result of the scandal, Malcolm Turnbull banned ministers from having sexual relationships with their staff.
