Yellow Wiggle Greg Page is on the mend
While Greg Page recovers in hospital, a fellow Wiggles original stepped in to perform at a second bushfire relief concert.
With Greg Page in hospital recovering from a heart attack, it was left to fellow Wiggles original Paul Paddick to don the famous yellow skivvy as the group performed its second bushfire relief concert at the weekend.
Page was on Monday in a serious but stable condition in Westmead Hospital after he collapsed as he was walking off the stage on Friday night. The 48-year-old had to be revived and has undergone surgery to have a stent inserted into his heart.
Wiggles manager Paul Field said Page was recovering a little bit everyday. “Still a bit groggy, he’s been through a lot. Still in a bit of shock to be honest. He doesn’t remember much of the incident itself,” Mr Field told 2GB radio on Monday morning.
Mr Field confirmed that the yellow wiggle has spoken with 23-year-old nurse Grace Jones credited with saving his life.
The original Wiggles line-up of Page and Anthony Field, Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt were performing the first of two fundraisers for the bushfire relief effort. The band carried on with its planned second show at Castle Hill RSL on Saturday night, saying Page’s main concern was that the show go on.
While current yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins took Page’s place for much of the Saturday concert, Paddick — better known as Captain Feathersword, the group’s friendly pirate — also did a few numbers.
