The infamous phone call between Donald Trump and Malcolm Turnbull last weekend has featured on Saturday Night Live.

The segment, screened in the United States this afternoon Australian time, features actor Beck Bennett — who regularly plays Vladimir Putin on the show — as Mr Turnbull talking to the show’s resident president Alec Baldwin.

Trump talks with his key adviser Steve Bannon, who is dressed as the grim reaper, in the Oval Office and complains how “he’s had a long day’’.

“I’m tied and cranky and feel like I could just freak out on somebody,’’ Trump says.

Bannon replies: “Then maybe you should call Australia’’.

Trump: “Really well I haven’t been briefed or anything but ... what could go wrong. Let’s do it.’’

Baldwin then picks up the phone and calls his Australian counterpart

Turnbull begins his conversation with Trump by saying he’s heard “there’s been a lot of blow back over your Muslim ban.’’

Trump: “No there wasn’t. Everyone loves it. We had to do it because of that huge massacre at Bowling Green. So many people died but they are the lucky ones — because they don’t have to see how bad The Apprentice has gotten.’’

The call then turns to the contentious Manus-Nauru refugee resettlement deal reached between Australia and the Obama administration.

“Mr Trump thank you for still accepting our refugees,’’ Turnbull tells Trump.

“Say what?’’ the US president responds.

“President Obama said America would accept 1200 refugees. Your country’s compassion will not be forgotten,’’ Turnbull says.

“No, no no. No refugees. America first. Australia sucks. Your reef is failing. Prepare to go to war,’’ Trump screams before hanging up the phone.

The skit continues with Trump phoning the leaders of Mexico, Germany and Zimbabwe.

The show also debuted actress Melissa McCarthy as the gum-loving White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
