The forecast of a fresh deluge in much of NSW is raising fears flood waters will rise higher still, with almost 5000 requests for help made to emergency services since the weather event started.

Several flood warnings remained in place on Monday night, with water levels predicted to rise in NSW’s northeast at Narrabri and Wee Waa along the Namoi River, and communities along the Macquarie and Bogan rivers also bracing for catchments to rise.

Wee Waa was cut off by rising flood water at the weekend and will need to be resupplied by emergency services for at least a week.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that water levels will continue to rise when more rain arrives on Tuesday, causing further flooding across NSW, southeast Queensland and northeast Victoria as well as far east Gippsland.
