Two women have died in separate New Year’s drowning incidents in Queensland.

A woman who disappeared while water-tubing in a creek in the Toowoomba Region on New Year’s Eve was found dead on Wednesday.

The 53-year-old was tubing with another person on Tuesday afternoon in Emu Creek, northwest of Brisbane, when they were both thrown into the water.

Emergency services received reports at about 4.20pm that, while one person had come out of the water, the other had not resurfaced.

The person who could be located, a woman in her 40s, was assessed by paramedics and taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition with head injuries.

The missing woman’s body was found on Wednesday morning.

Also on New Year’s Day, a woman drowned in the waters of Wave Break Island, on the Gold Coast, in what is understood to be a scuba diving accident.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the island, off Biggera Waters, about 10am after reports of a diver in trouble.

A woman was pulled from the water unresponsive and assessed by paramedics for life-threatening injuries.

Despite attempts to provide medical assistance, the woman was declared dead at the scene.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
