Two dead in horror balcony falls in Sydney and the Gold Coast

A man questioned after woman falls 10 storeys from Sydney hotel balcony, while police probe drug-fuelled party that ended in 19yo’s fatal plunge.

Two people are dead after separate balcony falls overnight.

Queensland Police have set up a crime scene at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, where a 19-year-old man fell four storeys to his death early Saturday morning.

Police believe a group of teenagers spread over two apartments at the View Avenue building were all affected by drugs when the 19-year-old man fell from a balcony about 3am Saturday.

It is unclear to authorities how he fell.

Paramedics assessed seven people and took four to Robina Hospital in a stable condition.

And in Sydney, an investigation is underway after a woman was found dead outside a hotel in the CBD.

The woman, believed to be aged 45, fell 10 storeys from the balcony of the Hyatt Regency hotel in Sussex Street in Darling Harbour. Her body was found on a level one rooftop.

Police were called to the hotel about 8pm, where a 48-year-old man who was known to the woman was arrested. He has since been released pending further investigation.

She has yet to be formally identified.
