A man has been charged for possessing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of methylamphetamine after he drove a van into NSW Police vehicles parked in front of a police station in Sydney’s north west.

The Toyota Hiace allegedly crashed into police cars outside Eastwood Police station on Ethel Street in Eastwood at around 10.30am yesterday.

A Ryde Police Area Command found the driver, a 26-year-old male wearing a white shirt with a popped collar, on Church Street in the neighbouring suburb of Ryde and questioned him before searching his Hiace.

The search uncovered several cardboard moving boxes containing more than 270kg of a yellowing crystalline substance in zip lock bags, of which an on-the-spot drug test returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.

The haul is thought to have an estimated street value of more than $200 million.

The number 20 was scrawled in black marker on the cardboard boxes while the ziplock bags said 1001.

“Look at the size of the shards,” a police officer says in the arrest video as he tests the crystals for drugs.

Another cop responds: “It’s crazy”.

Police arrested the driver and took him to Ryde Police Station before seizing the van for further forensic testing.

The driver has been charged with large commercial drug supply, negligent driving, and not giving particulars to police.

He was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court later today.

Investigations are being led by detectives from Ryde Police Area Command, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad.

Police are appealing to the public for information as well as dashcam and CCTV footage.
