Anthony Albanese and his fiancee Jodie Haydon are likely to get married in the second half of this year, in a “small, intimate” event during the spring.

Ms Haydon revealed her hopes for the wedding, which has been hotly speculated over since her engagement to the Prime Minister in February 2024.

“It’s something we’re looking forward to — an important and symbolic way to reaffirm our commitment with each other,” Ms Haydon told Women’s Weekly.

“It will be small, intimate … Possibly outdoors, in the second half of this year, with our family and loved ones … And you can be sure Toto will make an appearance.”

Mr Albanese revealed months of planning for the proposal had been a challenge, particularly in ensuring not to put the visits to the jewler in the diary.

“My executive assistant was very shocked by the fact that it could be done without her knowing,” he said.

While declaring she had “never felt more loved” than in her relationship with Mr Albanese, Ms Haydon reiterated that she had her “own identity and purpose”.

“I continue to work full-time and my employer has been very supportive. When I am at work, I’m simply Jodie, not the Prime Minister’s partner,” she said.

Ms Haydon said that she and Mr Albanese both had mothers who were “strong female role models” and that her family had been very welcoming of the Labor leader.

Mr Albanese said, having grown up with no siblings and a single mother, being inducted into a large family had been a joy.

“Jodie’s parents … her brother, sister-in-law, niece and extended family, her grandmother, who just turned 96 — they’ve all been so welcoming,” he said.
