Kelly Bayer Rosmarin’s weekend escape was cut short after the government slammed Optus for its failure to co-operate following the disastrous data breach.

When Optus chief executive Kelly Bayer Rosmarin arrived in Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands late Friday night with her husband, son, dog – and bodyguard in tow – she was no doubt hoping to enjoy a bit of R & R at her $4m luxury estate following a week of turmoil.

However, on Sunday afternoon the 45-year-old packed her bags and left the seven-bedroom and six-bathroom property two hours after the telecommunications provider was slammed by the government for its failure to adequately co-operate following the disastrous data breach.

Leaving for Sydney’s eastern suburbs in a white Tesla just before 2pm, Bayer Rosmarin – whose legal name is Robin Kelly Bayer – was making phone calls as her husband Rodney Rosmarin drove, tailed by their bodyguard in a rented MG SUV.

After facing a chorus of demands to resign over her handling of the breach, Ms Bayer Rosmarin spent less than an hour outside the compounds of the estate she sold for $4m in August, only venturing outside the gates on Saturday to walk her Italian greyhound, named Vespa, with her husband and bodyguard.

10 million identities compromised by Optus breach

The couple braved the cold while walking to a small flower festival at a park near the Bowral town centre, going unnoticed by members of the public but watched closely by the bodyguard casually strolling behind.

Tying up their pooch to a white fence, Mr Rosmarin purchased three tickets to the muddy – and foul-smelling – ‘Tulip Time Festival’ for $40.20. They stayed for just a few minutes before snapping some pictures with Vespa and heading back to their holiday retreat.

Not much publicly is known about Mr Rosmarin, who according to LinkedIn worked at CBA for 13 years up until December 2017, and now lists himself as an ‘Independent Consultant’. He also heads up family investment vehicles Bayros Holdings and Rosbay Investments.

He is also the NSW president of a Jewish sporting association called Maccabi.

The couple own a $15m Vaucluse mansion currently undergoing a major refurbishment worth over $700,000.
