A new episode of Hedley Thomas’ investigative podcast Shandee’s Story is live now.

The new episode, Shoot the Messengers, features DNA expert Kirsty Wright revealing how public servants and scientists resisted The Australian’s revelations of major problems with Queensland’s forensics lab.

The Australian’s investigation exposed deep and disturbing flaws in the results produced by the lab, forcing Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to call a Commission of Inquiry.

Shandee Blackburn, 23, was stabbed to death in 2013 as she walked home from work in the Queensland city of Mackay, but her killer remains at large.

The podcast revealed the lab failed to find any DNA – even of Shandee herself – in critical crime scene exhibits, including tape lifts from Shandee’s own skin, and a pool of blood in which she was found.

Find the new episode wherever you get your podcasts, in The Australian’s app under Podcasts, or at shandee.com.au
