A who’s who of Australian business leaders have been invited to Donald Trump’s White House to join Scott Morrison and the Trump cabinet at the first state dinner for an Australian prime minister in 13 years.

The Australian CEOs will also be joined by senior American corporate titans at a business roundtable hosted by the Prime Minister at Washington’s historic Blair House, across the road from the White House.

Those Australian business chiefs who are understood to have accepted invitations to the state dinner at 7pm Friday US time, 9am Saturday AEST — the first since John Howard was honoured in 2006 — include billionaire business leaders Andrew “Twiggy’’ Forrest, Kerry Stokes, Anthony Pratt and Gina Rinehart.

They will be joined, amongst others, by golfer businessman Greg Norman, Macquarie Group CEO Shemara Wikramanayake and Bluescope Steel CEO Mark Vassella.

CEO of American fast food giant Yum! Brands Greg Creed will also attend as will former CEO of Dow Chemical Company Andrew Liveris.

News Corporation executive chairman Rupert Murdoch and his son and co-chairman of News Corp Lachlan Murdoch are also expected to attend.

Most of these business leaders attending the state dinner at the White House will also attend the business roundtable the following night but they will be joined by senior US business leaders. These include the founder and chairman of Fedex Fred Smith and the co-CEO of the Carlyle Group Glenn Youngkin.

Many of these business leaders are expected to also attend a garden party early Sunday (AEST) hosted by Australia’s ambassador to the US, Joe Hockey at his “White Oaks’’ Washington residence. Several senior Trump administration members will also be attending that garden party.

Mr Morrison will also attend a state lunch on Saturday (AEST) hosted by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who is expected to have returned from his emergency mission to Saudi Arabia. Vice President Mike Pence will also co-host that lunch in the Benjamin Franklin room of the State Department which will be attended by the prime minister and his delegation as well as former US Ambassador to Australia John Berry.

Mr Morrison will receive a ceremonial White House welcome, only the second granted by Donald Trump during his presidency, late on Thursday local time (Friday AEST). He will also spend an hour with the entire Trump cabinet — a gesture of respect from the US.

Mr Morrison will have a 30-minute meeting with the president in the Oval Office and later that morning the two leaders will hold a joint press conference.

On the Sunday (AEST) Mr Morrison will visit NASA headquarters in Washington to sign a memorandum on greater space co-operation with the US before heading to Arlington National cemetery to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

The following day he will depart Washington to Ohio to inspect, with Mr Trump, Anthony Pratt’s new paper recycling plant before flying to Chicago and then onto New York for meetings at the United Nations General Assembly.
