Probe into soap star Jodi Gordon’s ‘wine bottle assault’
Police are investigating allegations actor Jodi Gordon assaulted her partner with a bottle of wine over the weekend.
Police are investigating allegations actor Jodi Gordon assaulted her partner with a bottle of wine at the weekend amid fears “domestic assaults are occurring” between the former soap opera star and her portfolio manager partner.
Gordon’s partner, Sebastian Blackler, who works at a wealth management firm in Sydney, was arrested by police for “domestic assault“ and taken to a police station in Windsor before being released without charge.
NSW police arrived at a bed and breakfast in the town of Kurrajong Heights, 75km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, early on Sunday after Gordon reported a “physical altercation”.
Court documents allege police discovered the 37-year-old actor with bruising to her left eye and bottom lip and three lumps on her forehead.
A former actor on Home and Away, Gordon was “well effected (sic) by intoxicating liquor” and told police she “fell against the counter”.
The court documents say the injuries “appear to be days old”.
Mr Blackler was arrested for domestic assault and officers at Windsor police station noticed he had swelling and bruising to his left eye. “Blackler stated Gordon hit him with a wine bottle. Blackler was asked to provide a statement (but) declined,” the documents state.
The court documents said police suspected a domestic assault occurred between the couple but “the element of assault cannot be met”.
“Police fear domestic assaults are occurring between the parties with Gordon’s consumption of intoxicating liquor exacerbating the violence,” the documents say. “There is clearly domestic violence occurring between the parties (but they) are reluctant to disclose how the injuries have been sustained.”
On Sunday, police took out interim apprehended domestic violence orders against the actor and Mr Blackler, 31.
Court documents said Mr Blackler must not assault or threaten stalk, harass or intimidate Gordon, or intentionally or recklessly destroy or damage any property or harm an animal she owns. The same conditions apply for Gordon, with an extra condition that she cannot be in Mr Blackler’s company for at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs.
