Sydney’s fault-ridden Metro line hits trouble again
Sydney commuters were left stranded as ‘mechanical issues’ brought the Metro line to a halt for the third Tuesday in a row.
Furious commuters in Sydney were left stranded on trains for half an hour yesterday as “mechanical issues” brought the city’s beleaguered Metro line to a standstill for the third Tuesday in a row.
Passengers took to social media to vent their frustration, saying the line’s private operator failed to provide updates about the delay. A Transport for NSW spokesman, providing an update on behalf of the private operator, said a mechanical issue with a train at Hills Show Ground station was detected at 6.40am.
“The customers on this train were taken off and they joined the following train,” he said.
“The affected train was moved out of service, which caused a delay to other services.”
One commuter tweeted: “Hey Sydney Metro your trains are broken again. Two for two this week so far. Thought I’d tweet that because you haven’t yet and we all know communication isn’t your best trait.”
Last Tuesday, the Metro line came to a halt twice because of a “communications issue”. The line also shut the previous Tuesday to allow for urgent repairs.
