Sydney car crash sends Anthony Albanese to hospital
Anthony Albanese undergoes X-rays after serious car crash less than 2km from his Sydney electorate office.
Anthony Albanese has gone to hospital after being involved in a serious car crash less than two kilometres from his electorate office in Sydney.
At about 5pm on Friday the Opposition Leader was involved in crash on Hill Street in the Sydney inner-west suburb of Marrickville.
A spokesperson for Mr Albanese confirmed the crash and told The Australian the federal Labor leader had been taken to hospital.
“He was badly shaken up in the accident but he is OK,” they said.
“He has been taken to hospital for some precautionary X-rays.”
Mr Albanese was treated by ambulance officers at the scene before being transferred to hospital.
Mr Albanese’s grey Toyota Camry was involved in a crash with a Range Rover, driven by a 17-year-old driver, at the Hill and Glen Street intersection, less than 2km from his home.
After emergency services were called to the scene Mr Albanese was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown, about 5km from his electorate office.
Mr Albanese, the MP for the seat of Grayndler, was alone in his car during the crash.
The Australian understands the driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash
