Qantas boss Alan Joyce has revealed he will be reaching into his own pocket for a “significant amount” to support the yes campaign for same sex marriage.

Having already promised his company’s support for the yes vote, he said this morning that he would tip his own funds in too.

“I personally will be donating money to the campaign, a significant amount because I’m passionate about it,” he said.

He also took aim at the decision to have the non-binding postal vote on the issue rather than have a decision made in parliament.

He said “we shouldn’t get to the stage” where $122 million was spent on a postal vote.

“I have to say that I am personally disappointed that it’s gone to a postal vote.”
