Margaret Abbott, the wife of former PM Tony Abbott, will miss his send-off gala as she is in hospital.

Guests at the Tony Abbott tribute dinner on Thursday night were told Mrs Abbott was in St Vincent’s Hospital, in Sydney’s east, recovering from a lumpectomy.
Longstanding 2GB host Alan Jones broke the news while welcoming the crowd to Mr Abbott’s gala send-off, paying tribute to his 25 years in federal parliament.
“I would like to offer sincere apologies on behalf of Margie” Mr Jones said. “(But) she is recovering well.”
