Federal election 2019: Egg woman Amber Paige’s Greens views revealed
The woman who allegedly tried to egg the PM has shared messages of support for the Greens.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been the victim of an attempted egging by a young woman protesting the Coalition’s offshore detention policies at a Country Women’s Association event in Albury.
The protester was a woman wearing a beanie and she allegedly tried to throw an egg at the prime minister but it did not break on his head.
24-year-old Amber Paige Holt was charged with common assault and possession of cannabis.
When approached by media, she confessed to attempting to egg the Prime Minister.
She was with a plainclothed police office who walked with her to the local police station.
“I don’t want to give a report, no thank you. I’ve got to go to work. No comment,” she said
She denied it was an aggressive act.
“It was the most harmless thing you can do,” she said.
When pressed on why she egged the Prime Minister, she said the action “speaks for itself”. “Have you seen his video to Manus Island?”
She has shared messages of support for the Greens on social media, and shared a message from Richard Di Natale about International Women’s Day.
In March, she shared a clip of Senator Di Natale on Sky News’ The Bolt Report, in which the senator told Bolt he gave a voice to neo-Nazis.
“About time a politician called out newscaster for giving a platform to those who intend to use it to spread hate and propaganda,” she wrote.
She also asked “why is every right-wing politician in Australia a Nazi” when Queensland senator Fraser Anning controversially blamed the Christchurch mosque terrorist attacks on New Zealand’s immigration program “which allowed Muslim fanatics” in.
She called Mr Morrison “bigoted” and accused him of wanting to subjugate women.
“My overall place will not be maintained,” she wrote on Facebook in March. “It’s time to rise up. This is what our Prime Minister thinks of women and International Women’s Day.
“Be mad. Be mad as hell. Don’t let his bigoted views bring you down.”
She also shared a post in support of Greens senator Mehreen Faruqi.
