A Queensland man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young.
The 43-year-old was arrested by detectives on Wednesday night at his Nerang home on the Gold Coast. He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 7 charged with using a carriage service to make a threat to kill.
It was revealed on Monday that Dr Young is under police guard as criticism of the state’s handling of the pandemic continues. The longstanding health official said on Monday the past eight months had taken a personal toll but “I think this has been tough on everyone”.
Queensland Labor on Twitter said the state is “better than this … These strong women have led our state admirably through a global pandemic.”
