The woman who accused Liberal MP Andrew Laming of photographing her while she was bent over has made a formal complaint to Queensland police.

In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Queensland police said: “A formal complaint has now been received from a 29-year-old woman in regards to an alleged matter which occurred in 2019. This matter is being assessed by detectives from Cleveland.”

Crystal White alleges Dr Laming took the photo, showing her underwear exposed, while she was filling a fridge at a landscaping business in Brisbane in 2019.

Dr Laming has apologised but insists there was nothing of a sexual nature in him taking the photograph.

Nine News reported that Ms White had gone to the police station at Cleveland, near Brisbane, to begin a formal complaint process against him.

Sean Blinco, a co-worker, had also made a police report.

Dr Laming was forced to announce he would quit at the next election after Scott Morrison counselled him at the weekend over his behaviour, including allegedly harassing female constituents online and taking an inappropriate photo of Ms White.

The Prime Minister has refused to direct the outgoing Liberal MP to the crossbench over the allegations, insisting the Queenslander has done something “quite significant” by announcing he will not contest the next election.

Mr Morrison’s government would be plunged into a minority if Dr Laming left the party.
