Police shoot man dead on Queensland’s Russell Island

A man was allegedly shot multiple times by police on QLD’s Russell Island after reportedly approaching cops with a weapon.

A man has died after being shot by police on Queensland’s Russell Island on Sunday morning.

Authorities were called to a property on Ranora Ave after reports of a disturbance just before 9am.

It is understood the man had approached officers with a weapon and was shot multiple times, according to the Courier Mail.

Paramedics were called at 9:18am to treat the man for “critical injuries” but he died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established as investigations begin. Senior officers have been sent to the Island to assist.

Russell Island is located off the Southeast Queensland Coast between the mainland and North Stradbroke Island. It has a population of around 2,800 people.
