Police hunt for shooter after fatal ‘targeted’ attack in Brisbane
Police have launched an investigation after a 41-year-old man was shot dead in an attack at Slacks Creek south of Brisbane early Friday morning.
A manhunt is underway after a 41-year-old man was fatally shot south of Brisbane on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to Rowanda St at Slacks Creek at 1.14am and found a man with a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a life-threatening condition where he was later declared dead.
A crime scene has been declared.
At a press conference on Friday morning, Detective Acting Inspector Jason Kitto said while the investigation was in its early stages, “police are confident this was a targeted attack”, and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Insp Kitto also confirmed the shooting happened inside the property and not out on the street where police found the 41-year-old man.
“Police are also currently looking for a number of people who we believe were at that residence but had left prior to police arrival,” he said. “We believe all were known to each other, and then obviously something has occurred within the confines of that residence.”
Insp Kitto said the man was known to police but was unable to comment if there were any links to Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.
The incident comes just two days after a 35-year-old man was allegedly shot 10km away at a Beenleigh park on Wednesday.
A 22-year-old man has since been charged after he was found by police allegedly hiding in a creek.
But speaking to reporters Insp Kitto said the two incidents were not related.
