NSW police believe there may have been a second child dressed in a Spiderman suit in the village of Kendall on the morning William Tyrrell went missing, according to evidence heard in the Coroner’s Court in Taree today.

In a surreal coincidence, Detective Sergeant Laura Beacroft told the court that she believed that a local man, described as well-respected, had seen a second child dressed as Spiderman, being driven along in a car.

Ms Beacroft said Ronald Chapman was at home on the morning of September 12, 2014 when he heard a noise and thought it might have been the postman.

Mr Chapman went outside his house and saw a vehicle with a child “up against the passenger side back seat window.”

His recollection was that the child was wearing a Spiderman outfit.

Ms Beacroft regards Mr Chapman as a reliable witness.

A further interview with Mr Chapman was recorded and a video walkthrough was carried out with police.

Ms Beacroft said she believed Mr Chapman wasn’t making it up.

She said it was “possible” that the child lived across the road, and also happened to have a Spiderman suit.

Ms Beacroft said Mr Chapman believed that the car was travelling with another vehicle, although this may have been a coincidence.

His recollection was that the first car was driven by a woman, and the second by a man.

Mr Chapman is on the witness list for the inquest hearings which are this week being conducted in Taree, about 50 kilometres from Kendall.

Other witnesses listed to appear today include Paul Savage, who lived across the road from the house William was staying at when he disappeared.

Mr Savage arrived at the Taree Courthouse an hour before it opened.

Former head of the Strikeforce Rosann Gary Jubelin is also present in the public gallery.

Mr Jubelin has been charged with four offences under the Surveillance Devices Act for allegedly recording a call with Mr Savage without a warrant. He has pleaded not guilty.
