Northern Territory Detective facing nine charges, including serious assaults
Detective Senior Constable Keryn Goymer faces nine charges relating to alleged incidents between 2016 and 2019.
A Northern Territory detective has been charged with nine serious offences – including aggravated assault – over a three-year period.
Detective Senior Constable Keryn Goymer has been served with a summons to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court next month on nine charges related to alleged incidents that occurred more than three years ago.
The 39-year-old has been charged with six counts of aggravated assault, two counts of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence and unlawful access to data.
The nine alleged offences all occurred in Alice Springs between October 2016 and February 2019.
Ms Goymer is alleged to have assaulted a woman on five occasions between October 2016 and February 2019.
She is also alleged to have assaulted a minor between October 2016 and May 2017.
Ms Goymer is alleged to have twice used a carriage service to harass on December 18, 2018.
The following day – on December 19, 2018 – she allegedly unlawfully accessed data in a police computer.
Ms Goymer, who joined the NT Police in 2008 and has worked in crime at Katherine, is due to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on April 12.
The Australian understands she has been suspended with full pay.
NT Police said ICAC and the Ombudsman have been advised of the matter.
