A dramatic arrest at a Darwin fast-food restaurant saw masked police T-bone a blue utility before surrounding the vehicle with guns drawn and screaming at the occupant.
Two men, aged 30 and 31, were arrested in the police operation
At 5:40pm, the Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from the Dog Operations Unit, the Territory Response Group and general duties, arrested the men in their vehicle at a drive through on the Stuart Highway, Coolalinga.
TRG operators, dressed like tradesman in high-visibility uniforms, were filmed pointing bean-bag shotguns at the offenders and trying to shoot an alleged offender with a beanbag through the ute’s windscreen.
Both men had warrants for their arrests and charges are expected to be laid later today.
NT Police have reassured the public that there were no serious injuries to the offenders, officers involved or the general public.
A member of the public’s vehicle was damaged as the offenders attempted to evade police.
The incident unfolded at Coolalinga Hungry Jacks at about 5.30pm (7pm AEDT), shocking on-lookers.
“I was just passing by Coolalinga, and I saw like guys holding guns and I thought they were like just having like a movie or shooting something like a series or something,” said teacher Jesmar Paclibar.
Investigations are ongoing and further information will be released later today.
