Gladys Berejiklian called as witness in ICAC hearing over Daryl Maguire
The NSW Premier will appear on Monday at an ICAC hearing over the conduct of former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has been called as a witness to appear at an Independent Commission of Corruption hearing examining the conduct of former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire.
Ms Berejiklian will be the only witness to give evidence to the inquiry on Monday, which is investigating whether the Wagga Wagga MP misused his position for financial benefit between 2012 and 2018.
The inquiry has heard numerous allegations involving Mr Maguire, including that he gave a western Sydney landowner the premier’s private email address to lobby for changes that would benefit their land.
Telephone intercepts played to the inquiry heard Mr Maguire encourage the landowner, Louise Waterhouse, to write to the premier directly. He spelled out her private email address and asked Ms Waterhouse not to reveal her source.
Ms Waterhouse has appeared as a witness to the inquiry and told a hearing that she did not receive a reply to the email.
