Family and friends farewell ‘The Punisher’
Family and friends have gathered to farewell Melbourne underworld figure Sam ‘The Punisher’ Abdulrahim.
Family and friends have gathered to farewell Melbourne underworld figure Sam ‘The Punisher’ Abdulrahim, who was gunned down in a brazen daylight execution earlier this week.
Abdulrahim’s parents and younger brother arrived at the Alawi Islamic Association of Victoria in Melbourne’s inner north just after 9am on Thursday, joining mourners for the 32-year-old’s funeral.
The professional boxer and former Mongols bikie was shot dead in a hotel car park on Tuesday morning while with his girlfriend.
Close relatives were given time with Abdulrahim’s body before the casket was moved to a public space inside the centre for prayers.
Two young men and two young women carried trays of white flowers into the venue, while three men later arrived on motorbikes — one wearing a top emblazoned with Abdulrahim’s nickname, “The Punisher.”
A heavy police presence is absent outside the centre, though officers are patrolling nearby streets. Two black cars and a swath of security remain parked at the front gate.
Abdulrahim will be buried at Northern Memorial Park in Glenroy around midday.
A funeral notice read:
“Taken too soon, Sam was a man full of life. He was loved by all, and his smile would always light up the room. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. A loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend.”
