A flyer claiming to be authorised by a neo-Nazi group that mimics Liberal Party campaign material has been placed in letter boxes in suburbs with large Jewish populations, prompting condemnation from community leaders of the “Nazi filth”.

The anti-Semitic leaflet, which includes a note that it was authorised by National Socialist Network leader Joel Davis, was titled “our plan to give the Jews everything they want” and was distributed to homes in Melbourne with high Jewish populations, including Caulfield.

On the back of the flyer, the author lists four ways in which the Liberal Party plans to appease Jewish Australians including placing “Israel First”, “Abolish Free Speech”, “Jail anti-Semites” and “Give Jews Free Money”.

The pamphlet also features a Liberal Party logo with an Israeli flag in the place where the Australian flag is normally positioned.

Footage of at least two men dressed as rabbis and another man wearing a T-shirt with the doctored Liberal Party logo handing out the flyers and brandishing signs outside a pre-polling centre in Kew, in Melbourne’s east, surfaced on Wednesday.

Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin condemned those behind the letterboxing campaign as an “embarrassment to our country and are the lowest of the low”.

“Now, the Jewish community has to contend with Nazi filth dropped in the area with the highest concentration of Jewish residents in the state, including Holocaust survivors and many of their descendants,” Mr Ryvchin said.

“Nazi sympathisers are an embarrassment to our country and are the lowest of the low.

“They have tapped into the anti-Semitism crisis to advance their agenda of societal decay and race war.”

Mr Ryvchin said he hoped the police would investigate the origins of the flyer and take action, branding the campaign as the “ugliest election we’ve ever seen in terms of anti-Semitic attacks on candidates”.

The leaflet also said that “making Jews feel safe is all that matters”, “Jews are doing it tough and need our charity” and “criticising Jews is another holocaust”.

Zionist Federation of Australia president Jeremy Leibler said the flyers were blatantly anti-Semitic and targeted at unnerving the Jewish communities.

“Jewish people, like all Australians, have a right to feel safe in their own homes, and not under siege from extremists who want to do us harm,” Mr Leibler said.

“Over the last 18 months, ridiculous and hateful conspiracy theories have been spread about Australian Jews. It’s dangerous, and it must be rejected by all Australians.”

Davis is a known leader of NSN, who was arrested alongside fellow commander Thomas Sewell for displaying Nazi symbols on Australia Day in Adelaide.

Their lawyer told a court earlier this month that the men would fight the charges and planned to form their own political party.

An Australian Electoral Commission spokesman said NSN was not a registered political party and the pamphlets were being reviewed.
