NSW has recorded another 27 new cases of Covid as the Premier warned the numbers would on Thursday be “higher than what we’ve seen”.

Of the new cases, only 13 were in isolation for their entire infectious period.

The figures were delivered as NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed the citywide lockdown would be extended for another week.

More than 45,000 people were tested in the latest 24 hour reporting period.

Eighteen of those cases are linked to known infections or outbreaks but nine remain under investigation.

Ms Berejiklian said she was particularly concerned about a number of new cases reported after the 8pm cut off and feared Thursday’s case numbers would be “higher than what we’ve seen today”.

“I can foreshadow overnight that we’ve had a number of cases, more than we would like to have seen, so I’m anticipating that tomorrow‘s number will be higher,” she said.

“But they are at the moment concentrated in three local government areas.”

There have been 357 local cases recorded since the limousine driver tested positive on June 16.

Two of Wednesday’s new cases are linked to Summit Care Baulkham Hills aged care facility. One is a resident and the other is an aged care worker.

“The aged worker has received their first Pfizer dose,” NSW Health said.

“When this worker was identified as a close contact, they went into isolation immediately, but had worked at the beginning of their infectious period.”

The resident is the wife of a previous case, who also resides at the aged care facility.

Three are household contacts of people who went to the illegal party at Meriton Suites in Waterloo.

And two infections are associated with the Commonwealth Bank in Roselands Shopping Centre after an employee worked while infectious.

“The Delta strain is not a mild disease. It can be mild in some but for many it can lead to hospitalisation and death,” chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant warned, urging people to take the lockdown seriously.
