Two men and a teenager have been arrested after they allegedly broke into a suburban Gold Coast home armed with a gun and a machete early on Tuesday morning.
Queensland Police said they were called to the house in Arundel, just north of Surfers Paradise, after the “robbery with violence” took place about 4:45am.
The three home invaders, aged 36, 37, and 17, allegedly stole money from the home and fled the scene in an Audi SUV they stole from the address.
Occupants were home when the break-in occurred, police said, but no one was injured.
Police located the stolen Audi in Gilston, 15km inland from Arundel, after it was allegedly dumped by the offenders, and began a contained search for the three males in the surrounding bushland.
A comprehensive search by Gold Coast officers, specialist police units and a police helicopter resulted in the three males being located and arrested at a property on Worley Drive in Gilston at 10.50am, police said.
They said they were not looking for anyone else involved in this incident but a crime scene had been established at the Worley Drive property and investigations were continuing.
