Police are hoping to extradite a 20-year-old Colombian student arrested in the Caribbean for ­allegedly murdering a Sydney sex worker.

Police are hoping to extradite a 20-year-old Colombian student arrested in the Caribbean for ­allegedly murdering a Sydney sex worker before fleeing the country.

Kimberley McRae was found dead in her beachside Coogee unit on January 14.

It is understood the ­Col­om­bian man booked a flight to Aruba, a Dutch territory off the coast of Venezuela, the day after the killing. It is alleged the 69-year-old transgender woman was blindfolded, gagged and tied up before being strangled.
