The case against a Brisbane nurse facing more than 135 charges for allegedly raping at least 21 women over the past four years has been heard briefly in court.

The accused serial rapist, aged 30, was arrested in August over the sexual assault of a young woman who was allegedly “administered a stupefying drug”.

He is now alleged to have raped at least 21 women and assaulted a further 10 by luring them on dating sites with false and misleading images.

The charges include 46 counts of rape and 38 counts related to him secretly filming the alleged sexual assaults.

The accused did not appear when the case was mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.

He was represented by a Legal Aid lawyer, who told the court the accused was in custody and was due in court again on Monday, December 14.

The multiple charges follow an appeal by Queensland Police to the public after his initial arrest when they discovered “concerning“ video footage on his mobile phone of alleged assaults of other women.

Detective Inspector Glen Farmer of the City Valley Crime Group said there was reason to believe other women had fallen victim to the man, after finding videos within the property.

“Detectives are continuing work to identify a number of women who they believe may also be victims of this man’s alleged predatory behaviour,” Detective Inspector Farmer said.

“It’s also alleged he subsequently administered substances and filmed himself engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with his victims.

“We are encouraging any woman who believes they may have experienced a similar pattern of behaviour to come forward.”

Some of the alleged crimes date back to 2016 and took place across Bethania, Springwood and Brisbane

The man is understood to live in an inner-city apartment, where several mobile phones and video recording equipment was found. The equipment was allegedly used to record the encounters.

Other charges included 14 counts of stupefying in order to commit an offence, seven counts of unlawful possession of restricted drugs and further relating to computer hacking, distributing intimate images, impersonation and stalking.

The man was remanded in custody following his first court appearance in August and is due to reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
