This is one seriously impressive watch.

As fans of Yohji Yamamoto’s fashion design will already know, owning a piece of the Japanese designer’s mind is a great honour. Yamamoto‘s signature edgy style is known for its almost minimalist approach to rebellious clothing, often in black and often with a sort of casual edge that still looks curated. In other words, completely unique. And his collaboration with Hublot is no different.

Drawing on his iconic camouflage print, Yamamoto has taken the ubiquitous camo and made it into something completely individualised. Named the Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto, each of the 200 limited run watches are made with care and precision to the finest detail — the Hublot way.

Painstakingly crafted by hand, each watch’s 45mm case is cut from a matt black ceramic, and features a sapphire dial and formed biomorphic patches in the camo print, completed with Yamamoto’s signature at the 6 o’clock mark. Both a printed camo and a black strap are available.

“I am powerfully drawn to a cutting edge approach, in the sense that it expresses a point of view that is slightly removed from traditional values,” Yamamoto says of the collaborative design. “Each collection incorporates a message about what I am feeling right now. It is a way to invite people to question what is already there, which is something I value greatly.”

The design is available for $31,900 at the Hublot Boutique in Sydney.
