The best new hotels in Italy
Rome, Sicily, Capri... check out these soon-to-open hotels
HOTEL LA PALMA
The legendary Hotel La Palma on the island of Capri is being brought back to life by German luxury accommodation group the Oetker Collection. The 50-room hotel, first opened in 1822, is being reimagined by Roman architect Francesco Delogu and designer Francis Sultana for the next lot of artists, poets and travellers to stay, play, be inspired and never want to leave. And it is just steps from Capri’s famous Piazzetta. It is the first Italian property for the Oetker Collection, which also has The Le Bristol in Paris, The Lanesborough in London and the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes.
IL SAN CORRADO DI NOTO
You can pretend you’re royalty for a few days at the new boutique hotel Il San Corrado Di Noto in Sicily, which was originally an 18th century masseria owned by Prince Nicolaci. Located in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Val di Noto, the hotel has 26 suites, all with outdoor terraces, eight pool villas and two outdoor pools – one an amazing 100m long – surrounded by citrus trees and olive groves. There is also a tennis court, spa, private beach club and two restaurants.
SIX SENSES ROME
Six Senses is known traditionally for its luxury spas and resorts in tropical paradises around the world, but it is also opening up multiple properties in more urban settings. Rome is the first Italian foray for the hotel group and is located right in the centre of the ancient city – just moments away from the Fontana di Trevi and the Pantheon. The hotel features 95 rooms and suites, a spa, terrace, outdoor courtyard, and a rooftop garden with fairly impressive views of said monuments.
