When you consider who might actually use a chronograph watch – pilots, nurses who want to check a patient’s heart rate, sportsmen – it’s possible to overlook the fact that they are awfully stylish too. This is the idea behind Breitling’s Premier B01 collection, which was relaunched in 2021 and has just received new models in a range of colours from lush green to salmon pink, available on an alligator leather strap or stainless steel bracelet. They’re smart looking, but functional too. Which is exactly what Willy Breitling, grandson of the brand’s founder Léon, was getting at when he first launched the Premier line in 1943 with the idea of making the tool watches the brand was known for more elegant. These six new models are powered by the self-winding Breitling Caliber 01 and have a 42mm dial. The launches are also joined by new additions to Breitling’s Top Time collection, inspired by 1960s racing cars. $12,390

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition

A truly spiffing day is sure to be had with this new piece from Girard-Perregaux’s collaboration with Aston Martin strapped to your wrist. And it will fit rather well, given it’s altogether slim and lightweight. The partnership with James Bond’s preferred ride, launched around two years ago, has proved fruitful, with timepieces such as a triple-bridge tourbillon and sport chronograph, all in Aston Martin’s signature racing green. This limited-edition piece, available in 38mm or 42mm and equipped with in-house movements, ups the aesthetic ante with all-over deep forest green in a beguiling ceramic. The crosshatch pattern on the dial is a reference to Aston Martin’s logo in the 1920s and the seats of those most dashing of cars. Exclusively available in Australia at The Hourglass. 38mm, $39,200; 42mm, $40,500

Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thin

There is something poetic about a perpetual calendar complication. Perhaps it’s the idea that it will continue to self-adjust the day, date and month (including the leap year) long after we are gone that illustrates the fact that time is ephemeral and exists beyond us. Anyhow, time is well illustrated in this striking new timepiece, a pre Watches & Wonders release, in stainless steel, from Piaget. It’s been fitted for the first time with a perpetual calendar complication, and combines the maison’s affinity for super-slim watches (the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Watch was briefly the world’s thinnest mechanical watch until Bulgari Octofinissimo Ultra pipped it at the post) with the eternally evolving sporty chicness of the Polo. It comes in at 42mm, only in this compelling green, and the grooves of the dial recall the design aesthetic of the earliest Polo watches. It runs on the self-winding mechanical 1255P calibre. $89,000
