Just because international travel is off limits, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a spectacular holiday. Here are three special destinations that aren’t too far away from home.

FLYNN, CAIRNS
Flynn, a Crystalbrook Collection Hotel, has opened its doors in Cairns in North Queensland.
The 311-room premises is located on the Cairns Esplanade Boardwalk and overlooks the Coral Sea.
There are two glass pools, a day spa, a 24-hour gym, and a number of restaurants and bars that will open over the coming months. It is the third Crystalbrook property in Cairns and is described as the “social butterfly of the family”.
Crystalbrook also runs the Byron at Byron and Little Albion in Surry Hills in Sydney. The independent hotel group is also opening up a property in Newcastle in April 2021.

LITTLE NATIONAL HOTEL, SYDNEY
The Little National Hotel has migrated north and opened a second premises in the centre of Sydney.
The brainchild of Canberra property group DOMA, the Little National opened just near Parliament House in 2015. It is part of the “micro-hotel” concept, where the rooms measure 17sq m and are aimed at guests who spend most of their time away from the hotel.
There are 230 luxury high-tech rooms in the Sydney premises; a gym, a sprawling library, and an exclusive rooftop hotel bar that provides a mini-oasis in the heart of the city.
Designed by renowned architecture firm Bates Smart, the property draws inspiration from its urban site above Wynyard Station, and themes of natural light and efficiency of space feature in both the rooms and the communal guest spaces.
“Little National Sydney’s design focuses on providing everything you need but nothing that you don’t,” says Bates Smart director Guy Lake.

THE TASMAN, HOBART
Luxury and history will combine in the new Marriott hotel in Hobart called The Tasman, which is slated to open by June 2021.
The six-star property is located in a circa-1841 building on Murray Street, just steps from Salamanca Markets, St David’s Park and the waterfront at Sullivan’s Cove. The 152-room hotel is the first of The Luxury Collection portfolio of properties by Marriott to open in Australia and spearheads the Parliament Square redevelopment in the Tasmanian capital.
Much revered local chef Massimo Mele has already been announced as helming an Italian-themed restaurant at the hotel that will highlight the best of Tasmanian produce.
