THERE was a mixture of sadness and excitement as we put the finishing touches to this week's magazine.

THERE was a mixture of sadness and excitement as we put the finishing touches to this week's magazine.

Excitement because we are moving to a bigger format with more space for stories and pictures; sadness because we are saying goodbye to three columnists who have been valued mainstays of the magazine.

From next week columnists Ruth Ostrow and Max Allen are moving to Weekend A Plus, a new section in The Weekend Australian, and we have said goodbye to Susan Maushart, who is now resident in New York.

I have long enjoyed the contributions from Ruth, Susan and Max, and I know many of our readers feel the same. But with change comes opportunity and we will introduce new sections and columnists next week.

We’re thrilled with the new-look magazine and we hope you will be, too.
