Supermodel Elle Macpherson has her runway revival
For the first time in over a decade, Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson made her triumphant to the runway.
On Monday night, Australian icon – and this month’s WISH Magazine cover star – Elle Macpherson, made her triumphant return to the runway for the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival premium runway series for 2024.
For the first time in over a decade, Macpherson returned to the runway wearing some of Australia’s favourite designers, including Ngali, Viktoria & Woods, and Bianca Spender, all who share international success with the supermodel.
“I was walking in some brilliant Australian designers and really enjoying myself,” she said of her catwalk comeback.
Macpherson, who is celebrating her 60th birthday this month, proving she’s still The Body as she made her iconic comeback, opening the show draped in a floor-length brown coat layered over tan knitwear and silk terracotta trousers by Viktoria & Woods
For her second look, she wore a pale yellow trench coat with matching trousers by Bianca Spender, before closing the show wearing a black dress and oversized blazer by Aje.
“This year the PayPal runway is all about celebrating the success of Australian fashion brands that have achieved success on the global stage – just like Elle,” said Senior Director of Consumer Engagement at PayPal, Shane Capron. “Not only is Elle an Australian who became a world-famous supermodel, she is also an incredible businesswoman who has launched globally successful brands,” he continued.
Macpherson, formerly known as The Body, is one of Australia’s most famous international supermodels. After appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated an impressive five times, she gained international recognition as one of the biggest names in the modelling industry. She has walked for some of the most renowned designers in the world. Her last runway was Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week show in 2010.
Elle’s return sets the stage for a week-long celebration of the very best in Australian fashion, continuing each night until the 9th of March.
