Zoolander reprised by Stiller and Wilson on Paris catwalk
THE fashionistas at Valentino’s Paris Fashion Week show were surprised when the stars of Zoolander hit the catwalk.
TO deafening cheers and a stunned celebrity front row, Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller closed Valentino’s show during Paris Fashion Week by storming the catwalk in a headline-grabbing stunt.
Their appearance was to promote Zoolander 2, the sequel to their hit satire from 2001.
The two Hollywood stars reprised their roles as male models Derek Zoolander and Hansel for Valentino’s show. It stunned celebrity guests that included Nicky Hilton and actor Kate Mara.
The sequel will hit US cinemas in February 2016, Paramount Pictures said in a statement. It said Stiller and Wilson will again star in the movie, which will be written by Justin Theroux and directed by Stiller.
Stiller appeared in a dark electric blue suit-and-tie ensemble with a navy trench coat. Wilson, sporting shaggy long blond locks, strutted in a shiny light blue pyjama print outfit with blindingly white sneakers, topped off with an eggshell blue trench coat.
It was such a surprise that the audience immediately whipped out their phones to catch the moment.
Stiller even recreated the signature Blue Steel look — an earnest pouting expression aimed at the camera — for the chuckling photographers gathered at the venue in the gardens in front of the Louvre museum.
Both men stepped out in confident male-model mode to pose in front of the cameras. In a subtle reference to the famous “walk-off” scene in the original movie, they came down opposite sides of the catwalk and met at the end, where they stared at each other with faux hostility.
Stiller also paused to grab a spectator’s smartphone and take a selfie on stage.
They then returned down the catwalk, dropping their overcoats in a perfect parody of supermodels.
