Qantas is selling super stylish Martin Grant-designed tracksuits
Miss flying? Never fear, you can still be close to your favourite airline with their new range of casual clothing.
Looking for the perfect piece of loungewear in lockdown? Qantas, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, have found the perfect cause for celebration.
In normal times it would be cause for great fanfare; but these are far from times and airlines around the world are in survival rather than party mode no matter how old they are.
Qantas, however, has found a clever – and stylish – way to celebrate the company’s historic milestone which also gives frequent flyers a unique alternative for cashing in their points.
The Paris-based Australian fashion designer Martin Grant has designed a limited-edition casual clothing collection inspired by Qantas’ iconic logos throughout its 100-year history. The collection of classic wardrobe staples has a definite luxury athleisure wear nod to it and includes cashmere sweaters, a hoodie, sweatshirts, T-shirts and a beach tote.
It’s a stylish way to show love for your favourite airline, and the luxury fabrics and designer touch from Grant make the pieces great investments. Going off the cult status of the brand’s pyjamas — which can be found reselling on eBay, and are something of a status symbol — the casual range is the airline’s first real step into fashion retail.
“This collection is all about classic shapes, comfortable styles and materials that are kind on the environment. But the hero of the designs are the iconic logos that evoke so many fond memories for Australians,” says Grant. “The Qantas brand is embedded in the history of our country. I wanted this collection to be a nod to the past but also be a treasured piece for the future.”
Grant’s fashion collections have been showcased on the world’s fashion runways and his designs are a favourite of celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Meghan Markle and Naomi Campbell among others. It was his reputation for simplicity and timeless, minimal silhouettes that led him to be commissioned by Qantas in 2013 to design uniforms for the airline’s pilots, cabin crew and ground staff as well as pyjamas and amenity kits for the its First Class customers.
The Qantas leisure wear collection starts at $150 for the cotton T-shirt and reaches $425 for the cashmere sweater. The collection is available exclusively at the Qantas Rewards Store until sold out and can also be purchased by redeeming Qantas points.
