Max Mara, Miu Miu, Tod’s, Deja Marc top this week’s wishlist

Micro mini or maxi skirt - the choice is yours

These are confusing times, and fashion has not made it any easier. At the recent autumn shows we were faced with diametric opposites in skirt length: micro mini (as per Miu Miu, previous page), following their reappearance for spring, and ankle length, sometimes in the same collection (as per Max Mara, above). Both have legs, so to speak. Choose your side wisely, or have a bet each way – but always consider what you’ll get the most longevity from. I’m leaning longer, but trust your gut on this one.

Are loafers a good investment?

Heels have been cut down to size, trainers are ubiquitous, but sometimes you want a little polish for the working day. (Re)enter the loafer: practical, chic, comfortable. Luxury brands such as Roger Vivier (rogervivier.com), Salvatore Ferragamo (ferragamo.com) and Prada (prada.com) have plenty of options; you’ll find more affordable styles at Wittner (wittner.com.au) and Nine West (ninewest.com.au). To help relieve combat (boot) fatigue, add hardware and a traction sole, such as these from Tod’s (below).
