Louis Vuitton’s $1,300 face shield takes PPE to new heights
When a face mask just won’t do, try this ultra high-end face shield from Louis Vuitton instead.
If the $3 face shield from Bunnings isn’t doing it, maybe it’s time to consider Louis Vuitton’s $1,300 iteration?
Launching a visor hat that doubles as a face shield, the luxury French brand have dipped their toe into the emerging world of COVID-19 safe accessories. Best of all, the visor does double duty, protecting both from the sun and the pandemic thanks to its photochromatic material make-up, which darkens in the sun to protect the wearer from glare.
An elastic strap outfitted with the brand’s iconic monogram print reminds passers by that this is no ordinary PPE.
“The LV Shield makes for an eye-catching headpiece, both stylish and protective,” Louis Vuitton said in a statement.
And for non-COVID times, the plastic part of the visor can be tipped upwards and turn into an ordinary hat. Genius!
While the price is yet to be confirmed, similar products have retailed for roughly $1,300 in the past. The visor-slash-chic PPE offering will be available in Louis Vuitton stores from October 30.
Louis Vuitton aren’t the only brand to try their hand at protective equipment. Designer masks have become something of a hot commodity, with designers like Burberry, Off-White and Proenza Schouler making their own versions. Some, like a US$1.5 million mask from Israeli designer Yvel Jewellery, feature real diamonds and precious gems.
