Photographers delight: Chance to shoot Sydney Harbour from bridge summit

Fearless photographers will be given the chance – potentially for the first and last time – to snap Sydney picturesque harbour from incredible heights.

In partnership with esteemed landscape photographer and Fujifilm Australia Ambassador Glenn McKimmin, a once in a lifetime photography masterclass will be held from on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Sydney’s breathtaking harbourside views are regularly snapped by Instagram lovers from the ground, but a new “once in-a-lifetime” opportunity offers enthusiasts a shot to shoot the iconic view from 134 metres above the sparkling Harbour waters.

Thirty photography enthusiasts will be invited to join the first ever photography masterclasses to be held on the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which famously doesn’t usually allow personal cameras on the bridge.

Esteemed landscape photographer Glenn McKimmin said the chance to shoot the picturesque harbour from exclusive locations was “potentially once-in-a-lifetime”.

“This is a world first opportunity … and we are not sure if they are going to allow it again,” Mr McKimmin said.

The masterclasses are designed for any skill level but “avid enthusiasts” will get the most out of them, Mr McKimmin said.

“We will cover camera basics … what settings to use moving into how to compose an image and things to look for in composition,” he said.

“Also researching weather patterns and things like that and finishing with how to edit your photos.”

Full and half day masterclasses are on offer and will run every Friday from November 19 to December 11.

Photographers on the full day program will shoot the harbour from the Gun Deck on top of the south east Pylon – a spot not normally accessed by the public.

The fearless photographers will then lunch at the nearby Glenmore Hotel and end the day with the chance to visit the Bridge at twilight and take a limited number of landscape photos from on top of the bridge.

The half-day course will see photographers complete their class at sunset on top of the Pylon’s gundeck.

After learning the essentials from Mr McKimmin, photographers will be invited to submit their best photos from the shoot – selecting one from landscape, architecture and looking up categories – to win a host of prizes, including an overnight stay at the five star Park Hyatt Sydney worth $1000.
