Maserati unveils brand new customisation program with release of MC20
Maserati‘s first supercar in 15 years has been released to much fanfare.
Maserati was all about moving into a new era at their MC20 launch in Modena on September 9. Revealing their newest design and signalling its release as a brand new era in the company’s history, Maserati exclaimed “we have moved beyond sartorial costumes and coverings, and can see only raw beauty”. Quite a statement, but the launch marks an important and exciting new step for the Italian carmakers.
Announcing the MC20 — which stands for Maserati Corse and the current year — Maserati revealed their biggest news of late. Complete with a brand-new, in-house Nettuno engine, the MC20 is a 630 horsepower V6 which delivers 0 to 100 km an hour acceleration in under 2.9 seconds — and boasts a top speed of over 325km an hour. Add in the exquisite butterfly wings and it’s a stunner.
Available in convertible and electric versions, the MC20 is a true modern icon. And it’s easy on the eyes, with a body which pays the utmost attention to clever and beautiful design. Chromatic and sensual, the design is one that begs to stand out, while hearkening back to iconic supercars of Maserati‘s past like the MC12.
Within the launch Maserati also announced the introduction of the Fuoriserie program, a complete customisation across the range which allows the owner to take control of the design and function of their favourite model. The feature will see customers design their car with the help of a ‘car tailoring’ shop in Modena, and includes features like two-tone colourways and complete interior control.
Among other announcements at the event included a teaser for a new SUV in 2021 and news the GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be the first fully electric Maserati models in the stable.
